Honor 5X Smart Phone Review!

Hi everyone! I wanted to share with you a new product that I just got in from Huawei. It’s the Honor 5X, and it is quickly becoming one of the hottest smart phones of 2016! Today I am going to tell you about the company, and my first experience with a device made by them which has been very positive. So let’s get started!

Many people have not heard of Huawei (pronounced wah-way!), but the truth is that last year they rose up to become the 3rd largest smart phone manufacturer (units sold) in the world right behind Apple and Samsung! And it is easy to see why when you take a look at this device. It is competitively priced at $199 or less for the USA variant which I will be reviewing today. The international variant of this device has different specs, so please check their website for more details if you are not in the United States.

The #1 thing that I absolutely love about Honor is that they support Android developers which makes a better experience for the user of the device! This is a big deal for me, because most companies want to completely control how you can use your device or which company it can be used with, which is great when a device is brand new. But after a year or two go by, companies tend to stop pushing out security updates, software upgrades, and generally make it a huge pain if you want to switch to another service provider. This can leave your phone feeling stale, vulnerable to hackers, and possibly very expensive! For most people this means it is time to upgrade your phone, but Android developers continue to support some of these devices for many years after this point. For example, I have a device that is 5 years old and faster, more secure, and has more capabilities than some devices made this year! If you are tech savvy, then you can extend the life of your device and take customization and security to a new level by downloading and installing these updates yourself. I may talk more about this in a future post if you are interested.

Honor does their part to support Android developers and the users of their devices in several ways. For one, they make this device to be able to be used with many different phone companies (basically as long as you have a SIM card). They have an online presence in many forums as well, which is helpful if you need help with anything because there will be others around to answer your questions. They also provide free devices to many android developers to test for bugs, security flaws, and improve user experience. And they they make most of their source code available for developers to modify easily as well. If you ever updated your phone and found that it lagged slightly, overheated at times, added a horrible new feature, or took away a feature that you loved, this was because the source code was changed by developers. When this source code is made public or open-sourced, then anyone can see it and propose changes to it. So instead of a small group of developers working on updates, the whole world can help make it better and quicker! Because of all these reasons, this device is already, and will be supported for many years to come!

Let me just say that I am very impressed with the Honor 5X so far! For the retail price of only $199 or less, it is an amazing value. You can get another device that is better, but on average you are going to pay at least double the price for better specs. If you do a lot of heavy gaming or use NFC, then you should consider buying a more expensive device that is built for this, but for most people this will be everything you could want or need for the price. It has a durable metallic body, full HD screen, great battery life, stable processor chip, and more! Let’s see some of the specs for the USA variant of the Honor 5X…

* 5.5 inch 1080p HD screen with screen protector
* Fingerprint sensor
* 3000 mah built-in battery
* 2 SIM card slots (micro + nano)
* Micro SD slot (up to 128 GB)
* Android version 5.1.1 Lollipop with planned upgrade to 6.0 Marshmallow
* Snapdragon 616 processor chip
* Quad-core CPU (4 @ 1.2 GHz + 4 @ 1.5 GHz)
* Adreno 405 GPU
* 2 GB RAM
* 16 GB internal storage
* 13 MP primary camera
* 5 MP secondary camera

So far I have not had any problems with the device. It performs well all day long with no concerning lags or crashes, and I do a lot of multitasking! I constantly have several social media apps open as well as my browser, email, other things. It was easy to switch over to my phone company, and Honor plans an upgrade to android version 6.0 marshmallow soon. The battery lasts me all day, and I watch videos for a portion of my day as well. The software is running smoothly and the device has survived several drops and some other abuse from the kids! So hopefully this review helped you to decide that this is the right device for you! YouTube video coming soon! Thank you so much for reading! Questions and comments are always welcome!

Kid’s Grow N’ Glow Terrarium Review!

Hi everyone! Today I want to share with you a great product I just got in from Creativity For Kids! It’s the Grow N’ Glow Terrarium. Creativity For Kids is a line owned by Faber-Castell that focuses on arts and crafts. They have some really neat products on their website, and their prices are very reasonable, so make sure to head over there and see what they have to offer! I am going to tell you a little bit about the company, and my experience with their product.

So let’s get started! Faber-Castell is one of the largest and oldest office/art supply manufacturing companies. They have been around for over 250 years, and they do business in more than 100 different countries! The Creativity For Kids line of products are fun for children and adults, and educational as well!

First off, I liked the packaging because it made it look like a lot of fun! I also liked the fact that it included everything that was needed except water. Putting everything together only took about 5 minutes, and the seeds started to sprout on day 3! The picture attached of the sprouts is at day 5, but we only used a few seeds! There were extra seeds in case of accidents, or future growing projects. I really liked this little project, and decorating with the glow in the dark stickers made it cool for boys and girls.

This is a perfect project for helping your child to learn more about how plants grow, and how to care for them. It is great for a rainy day, and your child will feel accomplished when they see that they can grow plants all by themselves so easily! I hope this review helped you to determine that this is the right product for you! If not, I am sure you can find something on their website that interests you! Thanks for reading!
